However, completing this unit alone does not grant a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) for operating this equipment.

A boom-type elevating work platform refers to a telescoping, hinged, or articulated device—or a combination of these—used to elevate personnel, equipment, and materials. Individuals performing this type of work must hold a HRWL for boom-type elevating work platforms.

What Are the Signs When You Need an EWP (Over 11 meters)?

An Elevated Work Platform (EWP) over 11 meters provides an ideal solution for accessing high areas beyond the reach of ladders or scaffolding. People commonly use EWPs in construction, maintenance, and telecommunications, where working at heights is a regular task. If the work involves tasks such as window cleaning, electrical maintenance, or any task above ground level, an EWP is the safest and most efficient equipment.

When choosing the right equipment, it’s essential to assess the height and nature of the job. For heights above 11 meters, a regular EWP may not suffice; you need a platform that offers more reach and stability. Knowing when to use an EWP can help prevent accidents and inefficiencies in the workplace, ensuring the job gets done safely and correctly. Ensure you choose the right equipment for the job—contact us today for expert advice on selecting the best EWP for your needs!

How Safezone Training Can Help Take Care of the EWP (Over 11 meters)

At Safezone Training, we provide accredited training designed to ensure that all operators can safely and efficiently use EWPs over 11 meters. Specifically, our training program focuses on key areas such as understanding machine controls, conducting pre-operational checks, and hazard identification. Moreover, we emphasise the importance of working at heights with caution and following Australian Work Health and Safety regulations.

Our trainers are industry professionals with years of experience, ensuring that trainees not only understand the theoretical aspects but also gain valuable practical experience. Safezone Training’s hands-on approach equips all operators with the skills they need to assess job sites, make informed decisions, and reduce the risk of accidents while operating an EWP at heights.

What is the Process of the EWP (Over 11 meters)?

Operating an EWP over 11 meters requires a structured process to ensure safety and efficiency. To begin with, the first step involves performing a comprehensive pre-operational check, which includes inspecting the platform’s mechanical condition and ensuring that all safety features are functional. In addition, operators must assess the environment to identify potential hazards, such as unstable ground, power lines, or overhead obstacles.

After setting up the platform, operators position it correctly and adjust the controls to reach the desired height. During operation, maintaining constant communication with ground personnel is essential to monitor safety and performance. By following a structured approach, the risk of accidents can be minimised, ensuring a smooth and safe operation at heights. Enrol in our training today and gain the skills you need!
