Description

Level 1

Level 1 indicates the ability to use basic everyday language or simple written symbols to convey mathematical information. At this level, you will typically need targeted language, literacy, and numeracy courses to prepare you before enrolling in a qualification.

Level 2

Level 2 means you should be able to identify and understand relevant information and ideas from texts on familiar topics, as well as write about these topics for various purposes using basic vocabulary and punctuation. You will also be able to effectively communicate your ideas in simple and clear terms.

Level 3

Level 3 means you should be able to understand and interpret mathematical information, applying problem-solving strategies in a variety of familiar and some less familiar situations. At this level, you will be capable of completing most Certificate IV level qualifications without difficulty.

Level 4

Level 4 means you should be able to interpret and critically analyze complex texts, as well as communicate intricate ideas and information in writing, demonstrating a wide vocabulary and accurate spelling and punctuation. This level is typically required for most Diploma qualifications.

SafeWork NSW mandates that candidates for High Risk Work License (HRWL) assessment demonstrate an adequate level of Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) to comprehend and complete the training and assessment requirements. This generally includes the ability to read and interpret workplace documents, communicate effectively, and perform basic calculations related to the high-risk work being assessed.
